A Simple Start

My first art studio was a card table in my bedroom.  I was eight. I had a tin box of Prang watercolors, which came with a brush that I bought at the five-and-ten-cent store.  The comic sections of the daily newspapers were my first canvases. I worked hours painting the “funnies”.

University Days

Ten years later I walked into the Art Building at the University of Washington.  Most people don’t have the privilege of studying art at a major university. Somehow, my parents made it happen for me.  

Twenty Years Later

However, before I finished my second year, I fell in love.  We married that summer and it would be twenty years before I returned to school to earn my degree.  I graduated with honors from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. I earned a degree in teaching and art.  I was a full-grown woman with two teenagers and the enthusiastic support of my husband.

Helping You Become An Artist

It has been exhilarating to see my artwork decorating homes and businesses across the world.  Now with this website, I am combining my art knowledge and teaching skills to help others become artists when they never thought they could be.
